The existing emergency department at Fairchild Medical Center was forced to use the hospital’s main lobby, or the side ambulance entrance to receive and triage patients and their loved ones. ORW worked with the hospital’s staff and administrators to create a new front door for the emergency department, giving it much needed visibility to the public and vastly improving the facility’s operation.

The project consisted of a new entry and waiting room, reception and triage areas, and administrative spaces all in close proximity to the existing emergency department. The new spaces are carefully knit into the fabric of the current structure utilizing a similar palette of colors and materials on the interior and exterior. The entry structure and signage create a new focal point on the street facade - orienting arriving patients and providing a sense of entry to this crucial facility.
