Grants Pass Public Safety Building, Grants Pass OR

The city of Grants Pass required a new public safety building that would improve emergency response times in rapidly expanding and developing parts of the city, in addition to providing space on-site for a future community center. Ogden Roemer Wilkerson Architecture completed a Feasibility Study that included user group programming, site analysis, and site selection. The selected site enjoys a prominent location and features sweeping views of the river.

The Parkway Public Safety Building is designed to accommodate the department’s anticipated growth needs for the next thirty to fifty years, without being ‘over-sized’ currently. The building’s massing embodies a “riverfront lodge” aesthetic that captures the spirit and vision of the city. Deep roof overhangs and prominent dormers complement standing seam roofing, heavy timber framing, and stonework. A prominent tower houses the bell from the original fire station and highlights the building’s role as an icon of civic pride.
