This commercial Live/Work building is a mixed-use
project which will provide a dynamic setting in which to
live as well as work. The city of Ashland encourages
mixed use development, and this will be one of several
such buildings in the neighboring office park.
The project features open office space on the first
floor which will be subdivided into a number of
executive office suites for individual professionals.
Above these offices are two loft style apartments.
From a design standpoint, the building is a dynamic
interpretation of northwest vernacular and reflects the
architecture of the agrarian buildings in the
surrounding areas. The exterior consists of simple gable
and shed roofed forms reminiscent of the surrounding
agrarian vernacular. Simple and hardy industrial
materials are re-appropriated and refined. The interior
features lofty volumes which respond to the exterior
forms and invite abundant light and ventilation.
